Curriculum & Philosophy
At Granny & Dot's our custom curriculum foundation is based on Galatians 5:22-23 "But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control..." We believe these characteristics are of the utmost importance to the whole child, regardless of religious affiliation. They are also in line with age appropriate social & emotional development & in this digital age, we must put a higher focus on training children in how to coexist with peers, teachers, parents, friends & even people we disagree with, in healthy ways. When it comes to teaching, we use a blended approach to facilitate the best possible outcome for all children. We use philosophies & strategies from the Pyramid Model, Maria Montessori and STEAM. We believe using this blended approach ensures that all children will develop & learn to their fullest potential. On top of this our center will never be full per DHS standards. We feel that 1 on 1 time is essential for the development of our children. Therefore we have committed to keeping our daily attendance numbers below what the state allows.
Proud Partner
Granny & Dot's is also a proud partner of Sprouts Child Development and is actively pursuing Pyramid Model implementation which provides strategies for teachers in the classroom, administrators and families to ensure developmentally appropriate continuity of care for our students.

"The Pyramid Model is a positive behavioral intervention and support (PBIS) framework that uses systems-thinking and implementation science to promote evidence-based practices. We created The Pyramid Model for Supporting Social Emotional Competence in Infants and Young Children to help early educators build skills for supporting nurturing and responsive caregiving, create learning environments, provide targeted social-emotional skills, and support children with challenging behavior." pyramidmodel.org
